Hello there! I'm Jen - a fully qualified Sports & Holistic Massage Therapist based in Bishop's Castle, Shropshire.
I have been offering a range of treatments for a number of years. Each is designed to nourish and soothe the body, mind and soul as a whole (holistically). I understand that although our base anatomy and physiology is the same - there are so many differences in how our bodies work. How they respond to pain, trauma and movement. How life's challenges have affected us. And how these differences - which make us who we are - can determine which therapy may be most beneficial.
I offer : Sports Massage; Cupping Massage, Deep Tissue Body Massage; Myofascial Release Therapy; Swedish Body Massage; Reflexology; Indian Head Massage; Warm Bamboo Massage and Reiki.
I have been working in corporate settings for a number of years. Offering short treatments to staff. I also work at events, hen parties and provide therapies for groups.
Massage therapy/body work and touch has been used throughout history as an important part of a person’s holistic health. Right from birth, babies are massaged by their mother. This instils a vital sense of comfort, healing and well-being.
Hippocrates, with all his innovations in what we now know as modern medicine, recognised the importance that massage plays in a person’s health, both mentally and physically.
Massage therapists are trained in anatomy and physiology and work with each individual client's body to produce the best results possible.
I am very passionate about body work and some of my specific areas of interest include :
Anxiety and Stress Management - when the body is under stress for long periods of time it can become stuck in the flight, fight and freeze cycle. Eventually, this results in overwhelm. Anxiety and a state of hyper-arousal occurs. Massage and therapeutic treatments can facilitate the nervous system to restore its natural state; flowing between the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems with the ability to weather life's stressors a little better.
Men's Mental and Physical Well-being - men are often expected to hide their anxiety and stress. Society isn't always as understanding of fellas needing help and some may find it hard to reach out. I thoroughly encourage anyone and everyone to have massage and holistic/complimentary therapies - it's about maintaining a level of physical and well-being that allows us to function on all levels.
Pain relief and fascial body work. I am hugely fascinated by fascia (connective tissue, mainly collagen). How this often ignored - but massively integral system and structure (it covers every single cell, organ, bone, muscle and structure in the body) - can store not only pain, but memories is incredible. Physical, emotional and psychological trauma can result in issues held within the body. Tight, constrictive areas of fascia (for example, scar tissue or a build up of thickened connective tissue as a result of an RSI) can also refer pain elsewhere.
If you would like to know any more about specific treatments, or how any of my work may help you to feel well - please drop me a line, or feel free to call.
